Diddy Wants to Work for American Idol

Sean Diddy Combs wants to be the newest judge on American Idol - so much so that he’s offered to take a pay cut.
Combs has stated that he’ll work for less than what the show formerly paid Simon Cowell, who will no longer be a judge on the popular reality series.
“As a matter of fact I have a new negotiation,” Sean Combs told British TV station GMTV. “I would take a five percent cut on what [Simon Cowell] was getting. He was on something like $34 million, and that’s peanuts.”
But we bet it pays better than VH1, right Diddy?

Paula Abdul: Bret Michaels Would Be Awesome Idol Judge
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
Paula Abdul may have moved on to a new CBS show, but she still has opinions about how her old program should be judged.
According to the former American Idol fixture, Bret Michaels would make a great replacement for Simon Cowell.
Michaels, who made a surprise appearance during the May finale, has already expressed interest in taking over the coveted spot. “For a lot of these young musicians, I’d be able to give them incredibly awesome and very, very real advice,” the rocker claimed.

Bret Michaels: New American Idol Judge?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
“I don’t know if it’s true, but I could possibly be a judge on American Idol.” It’s a hell of a good way to start a conversation - but could also be a bad case of wishful thinking. In a new interview, Bret Michaels makes a pretty clear plea to take Simon Cowell’s spot on Idol’s sinking reality ship. Will he get it? Let’s take a look at his pitch…
According to reports, Simon Cowell casually suggested Michaels as a replacement judge on the series…though it seems Bret is the one who’s taking that suggestion most seriously. “I was honored that Simon said that,” Michaels told People, “and, I would be honored to do it.”
Sure. The gig doesn’t pay too poorly, either.
Michaels explained some of his qualifications: “For a lot of these young musicians, I’d be able to give them incredibly awesome and very, very real advice.”
Bret Michaels is no stranger to reality TV. His own show, Rock of Love, has delighted fans on VH1 for three seasons, he judged on the ill-fated Nashville Star and he recently won Celebrity Apprentice.

American Idol: Rickey Minor Snubbed
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,
American Idol was so busy crowning Lee DeWyze and bidding farewell to Simon Cowell at the end of its ninth season, the show never got around to telling the audience that another very important cast member has left the series: band leader Ricky Rickey Minor. You might recognize the name - Ryan Seacrest frequently shouts “Ricky
Ricky Minor and the band!” during Idol performance nights.
Minor has been a part of the Idol family for six years, receiving many compliments from contestants and judges alike during his time with the show. Minor worked closely with the contestants, helping them with the arrangements and other musical concerns related to their performances.
And after all that, Idol didn’t so much as wave good-bye to the musician. Reportedly,
Rickey Minor was extremely upset at the end of the big Season 9 finale, which featured a huge send-off for former judge Simon Cowell.

American Idol 9: The Finale
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Features, Video,
Wednesday night was Simon Cowell’s last moment with American Idol, and the night belonged to him much more than the two contenders for the ninth Idol crown. Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox performed ably on Tuesday night, but only the votes would determine which would walk away with the winning title. The show will undoubtedly crash and burn now that Cowell is walking away…but that is talk for another time.
The Top 12 Idols - including Crystal and Lee, of course - danced out on stage to deliver “School’s Out for Summer.” While Orianthi jammed out on the guitar, Casey James suddenly announced a surprise appearance - Alice Cooper. This was an exciting guest star, but honestly, he sounded quite bad. And I’m a fan.
The evening started out with a fairly lackluster vibe…but there was much, much more to come.

American Idol 9: Top 2 Perform
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Features, Video,
The Top 2 episode of American Idol’s Tuesday performances opened with appropriate pomp and circumstance. It is the final week of American Idol 9, and soon another winner will become a recording artist. Top 2 finalists Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze have been highly popular with judges and fans all season, so Tuesday’s episode seemed a guaranteed success well before it began.
This week also marks the last for favorite Idol judge Simon Cowell, who has long made viewers love and hate him.
Crystal Bowersox had more than a little trouble getting to the stage at the top of the episode, dropping her microphone and getting re-set by producers as she awkwardly made her way to the platform. The whole scene was really unnecessary anyway - Lee and Crystal did little more than nod to host Ryan Seacrest before heading to the backstage area.

Quote of the Day: Simon Cowell on His Reasons for Leaving Idol
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
“After awhile, you start to go on automatic pilot. And there were too many times, Oprah, where I was sitting there bored, and I thought, ‘[At] the end of the day, the audience doesn’t tune in to watch me being bored. They deserve more than that. But I can’t hide it when I’m bored. I just can’t fake it.’”

American Idol 9: Top 3 Results
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Features, Video,
American Idol’s Top 3 results show began with a montage of clips from the preceding performance night and footage of the contestants visiting their home towns. Only two of them will make it to the star-studded season finale, where one will be crowned the ninth in a long string of American Idols. Along with the title, they will win a coveted recording contract and lasting reality TV fame.
With so much at stake - and Justin Bieber in the house - the show began with a ton of energy. Forty-seven million votes were tallied to bring us the results, which were (as always) tacked onto the end of an hour-long commercial-fest…with a few performances thrown in.

American Idol 9: Top 3 Perform
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Features, Video,
Ryan Seacrest began Top 3 week by announcing the home town of each of the remaining Idols. The three finishers have the honor of singing it out to make it to the show’s prestigious Top 2, a season finale extravaganza which will culminate in the crowning of another American Idol.
The Top 3 won the chance to go home at the end of last week’s results night, where Michael Lynche was eliminated in fourth place. There was no mentor for the week and not much of a theme, either. The contestants and the judges selected tunes from a large Idol grab-bag of former hits.
